Refund Policy

Last Updated: August 12, 2026

Shoppal AI POS is a product of Shoppal Labs (Pty) Ltd. This Refund Policy explains when you can get a refund, what is non-refundable, and how to request one. It forms part of our Terms of Service. Nothing in this policy limits your statutory consumer rights.

1. Overview

Shoppal sells subscription access to our point-of-sale (POS) platform, digital downloads, and (in the future) hardware accessories. Because most of what we sell is a digital service that you can use immediately, most charges are non-refundable once the billing period begins. However, we want you to be happy with Shoppal — so we offer a straightforward money-back window for new subscriptions and review all reasonable refund requests on a case-by-case basis.

This policy covers purchases made directly from Shoppal. Purchases made through third-party app stores are governed by that store's refund rules (see Section 6).

2. Definitions

  • Paid Plan: A paid subscription (for example, Solo Shop, Team Shop, or Pro Shop) billed monthly in advance.
  • Free Trial: The initial no-cost period offered to new accounts before a Paid Plan begins.
  • Billing Period: The one-month period covered by a single subscription charge.
  • Digital Download: Any file you download from Shoppal, such as our sample data files.
  • Statutory Rights: Rights you have under the law of your country or region that cannot be limited by a contract.

3. Subscription & Software Service Refunds

7-day money-back guarantee. If you purchase a Paid Plan and request a refund within 7 days of your first payment — and you have not meaningfully used the Service — we will refund the full amount of that first charge. This gives you time to test Shoppal risk-free.

Subsequent charges. Monthly renewal charges are generally non-refundable. We do not refund unused portions of a billing period, because the Service is billed in advance and is available to you for the entire period.

Case-by-case review. If you have an exceptional situation — for example, a technical issue that prevented you from using the Service, or a billing error — contact us and we will review your request fairly. Approved refunds for technical failures may include a refund of the affected period even after 7 days.

Pro-rated refunds. We do not offer pro-rated refunds for mid-period cancellation. When you cancel, you keep full access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.

  • First payment: Full refund within 7 days if the Service was not meaningfully used.
  • Renewals: Non-refundable, except for billing errors or qualifying technical failures.
  • Upgrades: Upgrading mid-period is prorated and the upgrade fee is non-refundable.
  • Downgrades: Take effect at the start of the next billing period; no refund for the current period.

4. Free Trial

New accounts start with a free trial as described during sign-up. You will never be charged or automatically converted to a Paid Plan without your explicit action and notice. If you cancel during the trial, you will not be charged. Trial credits have no cash value and are not refundable or exchangeable.

5. Digital Downloads

Digital downloads (such as sample data files) are delivered instantly and are non-refundable once the download link has been generated or the file has been accessed. If a file you purchased is corrupted or cannot be downloaded due to a fault on our side, contact us and we will replace it at no charge or issue a refund.

6. App Store & In-App Purchases

If you subscribe or make purchases through the Google Play Store (or another app store), the store's refund policy applies to your purchase. For example, Google Play generally allows refunds within a limited window after purchase. To request a refund for an app store purchase, contact the store directly or use the store's self-serve refund flow. We are happy to assist where we can, but the store operator controls those transactions.

7. Hardware & Physical Products

If Shoppal ever sells hardware or physical accessories, the following applies: you may return unopened items in their original packaging within 14 days of delivery for a full refund of the purchase price. Items that are defective on arrival will be replaced or refunded in full, including any shipping costs you paid. Return shipping for non-defective items is your responsibility unless otherwise stated. Before returning hardware, contact us for a return authorisation.

8. Non-Refundable Items

The following are non-refundable:

  • Subscription charges more than 7 days old for accounts that meaningfully used the Service
  • Unused portions of a current billing period after cancellation
  • Digital downloads once accessed or generated
  • Third-party fees or taxes (including VAT, sales tax, or payment processor fees) that we are required to remit — unless required by law
  • Charges resulting from your failure to cancel before the next billing date
  • Purchases made through third-party app stores (see Section 6)

9. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, contact us at contact@shoppal.org within the applicable window. Please include:

  • Your account email address and business name
  • The plan or item you purchased and the purchase date
  • A short explanation of why you are requesting a refund
  • Any supporting details (for example, an error message, or a copy of your receipt)

We aim to respond to every refund request within 3 business days and to resolve it within 14 days of receiving all the information we need.

10. Refund Processing

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method. The time it takes for the refund to appear depends on your bank or payment provider and can take 5–10 business days (and sometimes longer for cards). If you paid through an app store, the store will process the refund under its own timelines. Refunds are issued in the currency in which you were charged; any exchange-rate differences are outside our control.

11. Chargebacks & Disputes

Before filing a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank, please contact us first. Many issues can be resolved quickly and a chargeback can delay or complicate a resolution. Filing an unjustified chargeback may result in suspension of your account.

12. Your Statutory Rights

This policy does not affect any rights you have under the law, including (in South Africa) the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. For example, where applicable:

  • You may have a cooling-off period (5 business days in South Africa) to cancel certain agreements concluded through direct marketing
  • You are entitled to a refund for services not delivered or goods not supplied as agreed
  • You may be entitled to a full refund if a product is defective and cannot be repaired or replaced

If any part of this policy conflicts with a mandatory legal right, the legal right prevails.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted on this page, and the “Last Updated” date above reflects the most recent revision. Where a change is material, we will notify you (for example, by email or an in-product notice) before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
